Family Project
Preschool Parents,
In preparation for Thanksgiving, our classes are making a giant turkey! We are asking each child to take home a feather and decorate it with their family. Be creative! You and your child can decorate it however you wish, using anything you have at home. Once we have everyone’s feather, we will put them together on our turkey!
Please decorate the feather and return it no later than Friday, November 20th.
We hope you enjoy this fun art project with your child!

We won!
Our class has won the Halloween Room Decorating contest, and we will be having a pizza party on Monday, November 2nd! Children will not need to bring their lunches, unless you prefer them to eat an alternative meal.

This Friday!
This Friday is Emerson's Trike-A-Thon benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital!
The preschool classrooms will be participating in a week long curriculum about bike safety before the big day. You can help the children of St. Jude's by fundraising! Donation packets have been sent home with Guppy and Turtle students. If you have any questions, ask your child's teacher.
Our goal is to beat our last year's total amount of $800! You may solicit donations both in person and online.
The event will begin at 4pm on Friday! Bring your own bikes and helmets to ride for a great cause!

Trike-A-Thon
It’s that time of year again for our annual Trike-A-Thon! This fun event lets kiddos learn about bike safety while raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Last year Emerson students raised over $800 for St. Jude’s! We hope to have the same enthusiasm this year.
Beginning next week, the preschool classrooms will begin learning the essentials of bike and road safety (wearing helmets, watching where you’re going, etc.). This curriculum will lead up to the Trike-A-Thon on Friday!
The event will take place on Friday, October 16th at 4pm. Students will bring their own bicycle, tricycle, or scooter (with helmets, of course!) to ride around our track. Packets will be made available in your child's folder to begin raising money! Donors can choose to give a one-time monetary gift, or to pledge a specific amount per lap. (Warning, the kiddos last year did as many as 35 laps, so make sure grandma isn’t pledging too much per lap). You can find more information and give online. Even if your child does not attend Emerson on Friday afternoons, you are welcome to come by for the event!
We understand it’s a busy time of year with many other things going on, but we hope to have as many participants as possible! We are always amazed by the level of support shown from our families.

We Did It!
Because our class had the most food donations for our food drive benefiting the Round Rock Serving Center, we earned an ice cream party for this Friday! Great job, guys!!!

Circle Time Stretching - Warm up & Stretching our muscles
Station 1: Bubble Machine - using music, the kids will use straws to chase and pop bubbles.
Variations: holding one hand behind your back, holding hands with a partner and working together, & split into teams for a competition.
Working on: eye-hand coordination, following directions, teamwork, general gross motor skills
Stations 2: Baseball - we will work on proper bat grip, stance, etc. in hitting plastic waffle balls.

Camp Emerson Store
Camp Emerson will be hosting a snack sale this Friday, August 21st! We will be selling snack bags (age appropriate) that we have made and juice boxes for 50 cents each.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit The Emerson Foundation.
Please send your child's order in a marked envelope on or before Friday so (s)he may participate. Each class will have a designated time to shop and enjoy the treats.
